School is back in full swing here in Ttown! And football season is almost a week away. Roll Tide! But back to school...
This was my first first day of school not in a classroom. For the past four years, I started school teaching French. This year, I visited six schools throughout the week and assisted in hooking up technology and troubleshooting devices. I talked to teachers and tried to fix things. I Googled answers, I talked to colleagues, I found answers to the questions, and some things will take more time to fix than I would like. I have said, "I don't know but I will get back to you with an answer." more times than I wanted to.
Here are a few things I need to remember, especially from this week.
Remember school is about the students and learning, not the technology.
Remember everyone needs to be listened to.
Remember sometimes being there in person is a lot better than an email, a tweet, a text, or even a phone call.
Remember everyone matters.
Remember to reflect on my practice.
Remember not to use tech speak.
Remember we are all learning and will continue to learn. There will always be something I don't know. If there wasn't, then I wouldn't be learning.
Remember to thank those around me who listen to and answer my questions.
Many thanks to my PLN these past few days, especially @curtrees for connecting me with some new tweeps!
Hope you had a great start to the school year! Roll Tide, y'all!
